Job Summary

The system administrator / network administrator is responsible for the design, implementation maintenance, connectivity, and sustainment of approximately 50 stand-alone systems. This position will have a small amount of network configuration. This is in order to provide LAN connectivity to the closed network. There will be no active connection to the internet. The systems administrator / network administrator will also be required to maintain security documentation to assure system compliance for future possibility for an Army accreditation via RMF process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide IT support relating to the physical and logical server connectivity
  • Administer domain and Active Directory creation and management
  • Audit existing systems to define the limits of compliance, accommodate for those limitations and put policies in place to prevent damage to the existing systems while still maintaining compliance. This includes STIGs, system updates and a current authority to operate (ATO).
  • Determine all system compliance requirements (patching, virus updates, etc.)
  • Manage information assurance compliance (STIG, security scans, disaster recovery, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain backup and system documentation
  • Provide application level support of network specific software. This will be provided with an agreed upon interaction from third party software vendors.
  • Manage overall network administration

Requirements

  • Active Security Clearance
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a system administrator / network administrator
  • COMPTIA Security + required
  • Computing Environment Certification examples (MCTS,  MCSA, CCNA)
  • Possess excellent writing, communications, time management and personal skills
  • Ability to handle deadlines, multiple projects and reporting requirements
  • Understand how to maintain system security (user policies, permissions, firewall experience, Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) reporting and compliance)
  • Maintain strong communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly 
  • Technical awareness: ability to match resources to technical issues appropriately 
  • Service awareness of all organization’s key IT services for which support is being provided 
  • Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services 
  • Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate entry of service request details 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast moving environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government Secret Security Clearance
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and move around for 8 hours a day
