The Senior System Administrator position is responsible for assisting in New Equipment Fielding (NEF) and New Equipment Training (NET) to DoD customers in CONUS, OCONUS, and in Contingency Operation Areas. This individual will train various DoD and medical personnel in the use and maintenance of systems and applications. Install, configure, and validate delivered systems. Troubleshoot issues as identified to implement a fully functioning system. Lead a geographically diverse team and provide management and oversight concerning operational and administrative activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research hardware and software issues regarding systems (laptops, servers, routers, and other line item components) and provide technical support and system training to end-users
  • Instruct users on the installation and support of servers to include all related software applications, provide technical assistance, support, and advice to customers onsite.
  • Provide instruction in how to maintain the hardware, and how to plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures. Perform independent fielding for units and accomplish special projects
  • Assess the impact of changes in system software and hardware functionality affecting users and system administrators
  • Test and implement interface programs as directed by the Government
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems in coordination with the Help Desk to ensure minimal disruption of mission-critical applications
  • Evaluate communication hardware and software and troubleshoot LAN/WAN/MAN and other network related problems
  • Perform daily monitoring and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
  • Respond to IAVA/IAVM's
  • Respond to HQ with daily and monthly IA taskers
  • Lead efforts on RMF accreditation
  • Create and modify all necessary SOP's, and Policies for LAN
  • Manage lifecycle implementation for all hardware
  • Purchasing and acquisition for all IA/IT items
  • Work with management to determine IT budget needs
  • Maintain COOP site
  • Perform Tier I, II, and III helpdesk duties
  • Manage and maintain VTC system hardware and software
  • Assist with VTC's in the conference room for and other visiting agencies
  • Repair printers and copiers
  • Work with vendors to spec out necessary components for SAN
  • Manage and maintain Active Directory
  • Manage and maintain Group Policy
  • Implement STIG configurations
  • Manage and maintain all network backups
  • Act as administrator for DMLSS system
  • Oversee compliance of HBSS, 802.1x, and other NEC or DHA managed protocols
  • Manage ATCTS database and compliance
  • In-process new users (create accounts, permissions, and trainings)
  • Install and maintain server room equipment
  • Write and submit all CON requests
  • Act as alternate TCO
  • Manage all group mailboxes and calendars
  • Configure and deploy all phones
  • Track all activities on daily and monthly level


  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field of study
  • 4-8 years of experience in database/webserver administration and PC desktop support
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and move around for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+ CE, and MCTS in Windows 7 Configuration
